This Ride is going to ROCK!

Join us for a fun-filled ride on a section of the Ohio to Erie Trail from Barberton, OH to Cleveland, OH and back. The Ohio to Erie Trail is a multi-use trail crossing Ohio starting at the Ohio River in Cincinnati and ending at Lake Erie in Cleveland, OH. The entire trail is 326 miles, which crosses regional parks, nature preserves, and rural woodlands.

Our ride starts on Friday, August 8 in Barberton, OH. We will travel approximately 50 miles north to Cleveland, OH. While on the Ohio to Erie trail, we will pass through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Cleveland Metro Parks and several Cleveland neighborhoods.

On Saturday, we will spend a day in Cleveland with a history, architecture and neighborhood bike tour and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

If the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame didn't grab your attention. There will be time to go to the beach, visit the Westside Market, shop in Tremont or just explore the city on your bike. Cleveland has excellent cycling on the Metro Park trails and throughout the city’s unique neighborhoods.

On Sunday, we will make the approximately 50 mile trek back to Barbeton via the Ohio to Erie Trail. For those who are not interested in riding the entire 50 miles, there is a potential to cut this mileage shorter by taking the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railway. Our ride starts in Barberton, OH. We will meet in the public parking purple lot (3rd Street NW & Tuscarawas Ave - Across from McDonal’s) at 9:30 am. This parking lot provides free 24 x 7 parking. We recommend you park closer the corner of the lot rather than in the center of the lot.

From the parking lot, we will make our way to the Ohio to Erie Trail and travel north toward Cleveland. In approximately, 23 miles, we will stop in Penisula, OH for lunch. There are several food options in Penisula.

After lunch, we will head approximately 24 miles on the Ohio to Erie Trail to Canal Basin Park in downtown Cleveland. This portion of the trail will be a mix of packed limestone until Lock 39 (Valley View) and will transition over to pavement. In this segment, we will continue to pass through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Cleveland Metro Parks and a few Cleveland Neighborhoods.

From Canal Basin Park, we will make our way to Voinovich Bicentennial Park (1.5 miles) to check out the city and lake scenery. This place is perfect for photo ops! After the park, we will to our hotel (~ 1 mile)

Day 2 (8/9): Cleveland History / Architecture City Tour and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (10-15 miles, Breakfast included. Lunch and Dinner will be on your own)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will ride over and meet up with our biking partner Bob’s Bike Tours for a Cleveland Bike Tour. Our tour guide will provide us with a history, architecture, and neighborhood tour of Cleveland. This tour stops at many of the city’s well-known locations like Public Square, Tower City, the AWESOME Cleveland Browns Stadium, West Side Market, Tremont, Ohio City, and of course, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

After the bike tour, we will grab lunch and head to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is so much to see at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, you can spend hours there! Depending on how long you want to stay at the Hall of Fame, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy in Cleveland.

Cleveland has so many other attractions that are bikeable from the hotel. For instance, you can bike to Edgewater Beach or visit the Cleveland Aquarium, Cleveland Metro Park Zoo, the National History Museum or even The Christmas Story house. Also, there is plenty of shopping and excellent restaurants on E4th Street, in Tremont, and in Ohio City. Or you can partake in my favorite activity, which is brewery hopping in Ohio City!

Dinner will be on your own but we will definitely have a place to go for those who want to eat with the group. After dinner, we will wander over to the always-rockin’ House of Blues!
